We're looking for someone collaborative and pragmatic to work with every team across Monzo, ensuring we're building a risk-aware bank and have appropriate, proportional controls in place.
We operate a three lines of defence model for risk governance, so your role is to ensure that the first line are managing their risks and controls in an appropriate, proportional way.
You'll join as the third member of a small second-line risk and compliance team, covering risk across the entire bank. From customer operations to HR, product design to platform engineering, you'll work with every team in the company to make sure risks are being identified and that appropriate controls are in place.
You will spend most of your time:
- supporting every team as they map their risks and controls
- ensuring that all risks have a first-line owner responsible for managing them
- sharing best practices among teams
- embedding a positive risk-aware culture
- holding everyone accountable to the policies and procedures they have developed
In this role, you will have the opportunity to learn from the vast wealth of knowledge and experience that our Chief Risk Officer and Head of Compliance bring; you'll also develop a great overview of how a modern technology-focussed bank operates, and an in-depth understanding of what’s happening across the business.

Work will generally be on-site in our office in London, UK, where – if successful – you'll join a small hand-picked team of engineers, designers, product people, and banking experts on a mission to change consumer financial services forever.
